The latest fashion trends in Scandinavia that you won't want to miss
Lace
I absolutely adore this trend. It’s so hot in Scandinavia right now, especially in Sweden where I live. The biggest Swedish clothing brands, like Nelly.com and Gina Tricot, are using lace for everything right now. I see lace skirts everyday on social media and in the city. What´s so unique about this trend that I love is, the way it is being styled. People wear lace skirts or lace dresses over jeans, and layer it up with a big knitted sweater. My opinions about a skirt over jeans is that it´s giving a little mom-style and I would never wear it. However, I think a lace skirt over jeans makes you look cool. I have also seen people wearing a lace skirt or scarf tied around their waist over a t-shirt, or just around their neck. There are so many different ways to style it.
2. A touch of fur
This trend is such an easy and fun way to make your outfit stand out. Fur is something that always comes back in trend, and I would say almost any fur piece is timeless. I also love the combination of fur with other fabrics, like a leather coat with fur on the sleeves or around the neckline. The combination is so chic and elegant, and fur can really turn a normal piece of clothing into a statement piece.
3. Midi skirts
I´ve never really liked midi skirts because I kind of thought they were an awkward length, but this year they´ve really grown on me. Now all I want to wear are midi skirts. I´ve even sewn my own midi skirt, and it was really easy to do. I guessed I was influenced by the trends’ impact, but I still love it. It´s just something about these skirts that makes them look so chic, and I really think they can make an outfit go from boring to gorgeous, even though it depends on the skirt. One of my favorites is a midi skirt in leather that starts up tight at the top, but then it turns into a flowy, kind of a-line shape at the hips. You can wear this with the most basic long-sleeve shirt and still look really put-together.
4. Checkered pattern
I honestly did not see this trend coming, because for me, it’s giving the American schoolgirl uniform. This trend really depends on how you style it to make it look good. But I really think if you wear it right, it can look really good. Even though I was a little sceptical about this pattern in the beginning, I think it is very cute and can look very chic. However, I don’t think I will buy anything checkered, since it´s not really my style and I don´t see this as a timeless trend.
